February 17, 2016: Current state of work at the former Bethlehem Steel site at Sparrows Point and the plan to redevelop the property into the largest private industrial logistics facility on the East Coast by Eric Gilbert, EVP of Development for Tradepoint Atlantic.
A luncheon presentation by Eric Gilbert, EVP of Development for Tradepoint Atlantic, on the redevelopment of the former Sparrow’s Point property in Baltimore County. The 3,100 acre industrial site in Baltimore, Maryland, offers a gateway to markets around the United States and the world, featuring a unique combination of access to deepwater berths, rails and highways. Groundbreaking agreements signed with federal and state environmental regulators in 2014 to remediate the legacy from a century of steel-making enable the redevelopment of the site with the potential to become one of North America’s most strategic multi-modal, multi-commodity terminals.
With more than 20 years of industry experience in large-scale development, Gilbert is responsible for directing the transformation of a former 3,100 acre steel mill into a world-class multi-modal transportation and logistics hub. Gilbert ensures that Tradepoint Atlantic is fully realized as a globally recognized logistics center, working with all aspects of the logistics chain to leverage the strengths of the site, including its deep-water marine assets, and dual Class I railroad connectivity, maximizing the natural gateway to the region’s transportation network.
Most recently, he served as Senior VP of Infrastructure & Logistics for CenterPoint Properties, where he was responsible for the oversight of intermodal, infrastructure, rail and marine based development projects from land acquisition through vertical development.
