The Hope Village community, the first stop of LAI Baltimore’s Summer Outing was featured in a recent Baltimore Business Journal article, “Small houses in East Baltimore to offer new life for homeless families”

Thirteen new homes are shaping up in Oliver led by one of Baltimore’s top developers who is pivoting from the luxury apartment market to the more humble task of providing housing for families exiting homelessness.

The Hope Village community of small homes is expected to open in October — and realize a dream by local philanthropists Christian and Pam Wilson and developer Mark Sapperstein and his family to convert a once-abandoned city street into an affordable home community. At $25,000 per dwelling, all of the 480-square-foot homes are sold — with a waitlist of 600 families, Christian Wilson said last week.
